Nina Simone, whose deep, raspy, forceful voice made her a unique figure in jazz and later helped define the civil rights movement, will be honored at the Charleston Jazz Orchestra’s “Little Girl Blue” show on Saturday.
An indelible icon of the jazz age, Nina Simone certainly had a voice no one will ever forget. In honor of the “High Priestess of Soul,” the Charleston Jazz Orchestra is paying homage with their Saturday night show “Little Girl Blue.”
Continuing to celebrate its sixth anniversary season, the CJO will perform two sets, one at 5 p.m. another at 8 p.m., of Simone’s work at the Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St.
Tickets are $30-$45 for adults, with senior tickets priced between $25 and $40; student ticket prices vary and all student and discounted tickets must be purchased in person.
